The page validates a video ID and checks its oEmbed title. For analysis, press Analyze Tab Audio and choose the playing YouTube tab in the browser dialog. The approved stream collects up to thirty seconds of mono PCM in memory for the BPM engine. You can finish early. It does not download the video, save a recording, or send captured audio to the server. Local-file analysis and Tap Tempo are separate checks.

The submitted URL must resolve to an 11-character YouTube video ID in a watch, Shorts, live, embed or youtu.be address. The server constructs a canonical watch URL and asks YouTube oEmbed for public title and channel information. For audio analysis, the browser—not the server—opens its display-sharing dialog after a user click. The user selects the playing tab and enables its audio. A short PCM sample from that approved MediaStream stays in browser memory, where the existing onset and repeating-interval BPM engine measures it before the stream is stopped and discarded.

The YouTube title check is deliberately narrow: it reads a public title label when one exists and leaves it blank when it does not. A separate, user-approved tab capture can measure the audio you choose in browser memory; it does not download or save the video. The optional local-file result and Tap Tempo result remain separate evidence, each with its own limitations.

How to get a useful result

Treat a visible title label as a lead, not proof that a particular beat grid is right. Read the matched wording, play a representative section, and choose the level you would count in a DAW, DJ application or edit. A number near 86 and one near 172 can describe the same drum-and-bass grid. The tab-audio result is a measured estimate for the captured section, not a guarantee that every section uses the same tempo.

Use the public link as a reference, then verify the section that matters: Paste a public YouTube video link, then open it in a separate browser tab at a drum-led section. Keep the title label, shared-tab estimate, local estimate and manual tap distinct instead of presenting one as proof of the others.

When the title and pulse do not agree

  • Use the full public YouTube URL or youtu.be short link; channel, playlist and search URLs do not identify one video.

A title label is not waveform analysis

Public metadata reflects what a creator published in a title. It cannot inspect the waveform, verify a beat grid, resolve tempo changes or catch a typo. The result identifies its evidence: a title label, a short on-device tab-audio estimate, a local-file estimate, or a manual tap measurement.

QUALITY CHECK

Keep the source of each answer clear

Start by noting what the page actually found. A title label is public text supplied with the upload; it is not an audio measurement. A shared-tab result is an on-device estimate from the section you explicitly chose; a local-file result and a tap result are separate checks. Keeping those labels distinct makes it easier to return to a result later and explain why you trusted it.
