PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Music Tools Lab processes, what stays on your device and what changes if advertising is enabled in the future.

Effective and last updated: July 17, 2026

1. Scope and the short version

This policy applies to the Music Tools Lab website and its browser-based music tools. Music Tools Lab does not currently offer user accounts, a contact form or a cloud library. Audio selected for analysis, conversion, trimming or vocal reduction is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to Music Tools Lab.

Some features need an internet connection. Normal page requests pass through our hosting provider, and playlist searches send the words you enter to a third-party music catalog. Those services may process ordinary technical request information as described below.

2. Information processed when you visit

Hosting and security data

Music Tools Lab is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most hosting and security services, Cloudflare may process an IP address, request time, requested URL, browser or user-agent information, approximate location derived from an IP address, and security signals needed to deliver and protect the site. Music Tools Lab does not use that information to build user profiles.

Audio files and local tool inputs

Audio files you choose are decoded and processed in browser memory on your device. The site does not intentionally transmit the audio file, waveform, detected BPM, detected key or exported clip to a Music Tools Lab server. Closing or refreshing the page clears the in-memory working state. A downloaded export is saved wherever your browser normally stores downloads.

Playlist catalog searches

Playlist tools can send search words such as an artist, genre, mood or song title to Apple's public music catalog search service to retrieve matching track metadata. The catalog provider and network infrastructure may receive standard request data. Imported CSV or M3U files remain on your device and are not included with the catalog request.

Direct audio links

If you choose the BPM Finder's direct URL option, your browser requests that HTTPS audio address from the third-party host you entered. That host can receive your IP address, browser request information and the requested URL. Music Tools Lab does not proxy or store the audio, and you can avoid this request by uploading a local file instead.

3. Cookies, local storage and advertising

The current Music Tools Lab application does not create an account cookie, save a user profile or load a first-party analytics package. Essential hosting and security infrastructure may still use technical measures necessary to deliver and protect the site.

Music Tools Lab may display advertising in a future release. If Google AdSense is enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage or device identifiers to deliver, measure and protect ads, subject to the choices and law that apply to you. Google explains this processing in How Google uses information from sites that use its services and its advertising technologies policy.

Advertising is not enabled merely because this paragraph exists. Before consent-based advertising is activated, Music Tools Lab will add the required consent controls. For visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, that includes a Google-certified consent management platform where required by Google's publisher rules. You can manage Google ad personalization through Google's ad settings.

4. Purposes and legal bases

We process the limited information described above to deliver requested pages and tool results, secure and troubleshoot the service, return music catalog matches, comply with legal obligations and prevent misuse. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities rely on performing the service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, compliance with law, or consent for optional advertising technologies.

5. Retention and sharing

Music Tools Lab does not retain audio selected for local processing. The application does not intentionally create a persistent history of your BPM, key, edit or export results. Catalog searches are handled long enough to return results; the third-party catalog and hosting provider control their own logs and retention practices.

Information may be processed by Cloudflare for hosting and security, by Apple for catalog search, and by Google or advertising partners only if advertising is later enabled. We may also disclose information if required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users. Music Tools Lab does not sell uploaded audio files or tool results.

6. Your choices and rights

You can use non-catalog tools without an account. You can avoid catalog requests by not using catalog search and can stop local processing by closing the page. Browser controls can clear or block cookies, although doing so may affect security or future advertising preferences.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, deletion, correction, restriction, objection or portability for personal information under our control. Because Music Tools Lab does not maintain user accounts or an application database of tool results, we may not hold information that can be linked back to you. To ask a privacy question, use the route described on the Contact page and do not post sensitive personal information publicly.

7. International processing, children and security

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their legal safeguards. Music Tools Lab is a general-audience music utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly create profiles for children or request their personal information.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate for a small browser-based service. No internet transmission or storage system is guaranteed to be completely secure, so do not include confidential or personal information in catalog search terms or public support messages.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the tools, providers, advertising status or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top will show the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page before the related processing is introduced where reasonably possible.

Questions about this policy can be sent through the public contact route listed on our Contact page. The more detailed explanation of local audio processing and result limitations is available on Privacy & accuracy.
